The Lions Club of Tropical Gardens (LCTG) launched its 2026 Breast Cancer Awareness Programme in West Bay on 1 October 2026, with Dr. Michelle Mon Desir of Oasis Medical Group as the keynote speaker, supported by Clare Thorpe of Breast Cancer Cayman (formerly Breast Cancer Foundation).

Dr. Andrew Robinson, Breast Cancer Awareness Coordinator for LCTG, served as the moderator for the evening, guiding an engaging and informative programme focused on breast health and the importance of early detection.
For the past 10 years, Dr. Mon Desir has been honoured to share in these important breast cancer awareness meetings with the women of West Bay. She takes great pleasure in reminding participants of the vital role that early detection plays in saving lives.
EARLY DETECTION SAVES LIVES
Women were encouraged to:
• Perform monthly breast self-examinations and become familiar with their breasts and any changes.
• Ensure that they have their mammograms as recommended, generally at least annually for women for whom annual screening is appropriate.
• Speak with their healthcare provider about any breast changes or concerns.
We extend our sincere thanks to the Lions Club of Tropical Gardens, in association with Breast Cancer Cayman, for generously providing mammogram vouchers to all participants. This wonderful initiative helps make an important message even more meaningful by supporting women in taking action for their health.
A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Andrew Robinson, Clare Thorpe, the Lions Club of Tropical Gardens, Breast Cancer Cayman, and everyone who continues to support breast cancer awareness and empower women in our community.
Together, we can encourage early detection, promote healthy choices, and help save lives.
